Non-Graded Group and Individual "Mini Projects"
As stepping stones to understanding the greater concepts outlined in the larger graded projects we completed several smaller, mini projects, along the way.
A Picture Speaks a Thousand Words
Several times this summer we were asked to either take photos to illuminate a concept/idea in education or find a picture online and re-purpose it.

The Ball Drop: A Physics Demonstration
|
This exercise was a simple demonstration of how video could be used to present a basic idea, such as gravity, in a way that makes it easily understandable.
If you couldn't tell, no matter how far the ball travels to the side, it will always hit the ground at the same time as a ball that drops straight down. Gravity pulls equally on all objects regardless of motion. |
WolfQuest: Finding Behaviorism in an Educational Program
In our first "Mini-Project" we were asked to find an educational program that utilized a principle of Behaviorism to teach those using the program.
Our group was assigned the principle of Chaining and Extinction. We found both in a program called "WolfQuest." |

The Longtails: An Introduction
Kidspiration: Cognitive Mapping Screencast
For our second "Mini-Project" we combined both screencasting and mind mapping software.
Our assignment was to take a concept in cognitive theory, in this case how memory, emotions, and stories interact. We were instructed to outline it in Kidspiration and then create a screencast of that mind map. Click on the picture to the right to watch the screencast our group made. |
Web 2.0 Jigsaw: Video Editing Tools
A third mini project was focused solely on different sets of internet tools for the classroom: video editing, writing, quizzing, mapping, and collaborative tools. Our group was assigned to the video editing tools and we created a wiki to describe those tools to the rest of the class.
