Artifact #2: Student Teaching Evaluation (TE 802)
Goals: 2
Standards: 2 and 4
Throughout my student teaching year I was guided in my practice by a Field Instructor assigned my Michigan State. She would observe my lessons, locate areas of strength and weakness, and debrief with me afterwards to better my teaching. I struggled throughout most of the year to apply the concepts I had learned in my theoretical teacher education classes to the actual classroom. I struggled and I worked hard.
This evaluation documents the success of that hard work. I spent most of that year unsure if I was on the right track. Working with my mentor teacher, field instructor, and reaching out to other teachers in the building, I found my own style. I developed projects and presentations that had a great impact on the students. The Great Depression project in Artifact #1 is an example of that hard work.
The evaluation is a look back on that first year teaching. It documents my mistakes, my growth, and my eventual success as a teacher. It leads into that first "real" year teaching in New Orleans. It set the tone for my career as an educator.
